Call To Action For All Marling Old Boys

OMA, Stroud, Glos. January 2015 :  The Marling Old Boys Association has a new committee with expertise spanning existing old boys and business professionals to work more collaboratively with Dr. Stuart Wilson and his team at Marling School. As the funding for grammar school education becomes even more challenging, the OMA wants to play a pivotal role in helping the school achieve its objectives and deliver the great results it continues to do especially since obtaining its ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted in 2013.

Among its many goals the OMA will look to facilitate its expertise in business and professional life to help mentor the boys as they commence their careers. Consequently Ian Harvey, President of the OMA and his committee are calling on all Marling Old Boys to join the OMA for a small fee of £10 per year. Ian said, “We’d like to develop more electronic links with all the past year groups and communicate how the OMA can help improve the experience of the boys while at school. Our main event is the OMA dinner scheduled for Saturday 21st March 2015 from 7pm in the main hall. There will also be a TV in situ to watch the England Vs France rugby match from 5pm!!” Ian confirmed that tickets for this event are only £25 for a 4-course menu and offers a great platform from which to commence a new and vibrant Old Marlingtonians Association.”

Dr. Stuart Wilson, Headteacher said, “We really appreciate the support of the OMA especially the development of peer mentoring for the boys as they commence their professional lives. Equally the projects funded by the OMA directly benefit our pupils; we are currently planning to upgrade one of our IT suites which would not be possible without the support from the OMA.”

So the OMA and Marling School are calling on all old boys to please make contact and sign up to their heritage and support the future development of the school. Please contact or call on 01453 762251 to buy tickets for the dinner and / or to join the OMA.

The OMA annual dinner is a great event for old boys to get together and reminisce about old times and the future development of the school. This year the OMA is delighted to announce that Peter Evans, an ex-Marlingtonian with 30 years’ experience in home affairs with The Times will be the guest speaker.

So in the words akin to Kitchener, calling all Marling Old Boys – “Your School needs you.”
