Former Marling School student and BBC Radio Gloucestershire Sports Journalist Paul Furley returned to give a talk about his route in Journalism.

Paul's dreams of being a Journalist started off during a Year 7 Library Skills lesson where his teacher accused him of plagerising his library report, after being convinced otherwise, Paul's teacher gave an honest review of his report. He also used to play for Forest Green Rovers Youth Team though even himself concluded that he was not the best, he let it slip that he had an interest in Journalism so he was convinced into writing their match reports to submit to the local paper.

After he got As in his A-Levels, he was offered work experience at Radio Gloucestershire and continued to work there, appearing on breakfast sport report bulletins including his own report on the Cheltenham Gold Cup, though not his favourite event as he was sat next to John McCririck.
