17 – 21 March 2014 was National Science and Engineering Week, during which the Schools Build a Plane Challenge Student Management Team organised talks during science lessons for Years 7 – 9 based as much as possible around the theme of Aviation. During the week speakers visited Marling and Stroud High School representing EDF Energy, Renishaw, GE Aviation, Jenny Body (past president of the Royal Aeronautical society) and Jackie Longworth (the first female president of an engineering union). The speakers talked about their careers, their companies and routes into engineering. We have received very positive feedback about the week with speakers being very impressed by the questions that the students asked.

The week also included tutor time activities based on aviation, paper aeroplane workshops and the BAP Celebration Event at which the first student flights in the plane took place. Thank you to everyone who helped to make the week such a success.
