It was great to welcome the Year 11 boys back to school today to receive their GCSE results and to celebrate their success. They have done brilliantly!
A whopping 80% of grades achieved are at A*-B grades and 52% of students achieved 5 or more A*-A grades. There were many stories of individual success with 72 students achieving 10 or more A* to B grades and 21 students achieving 10 or more A*-A grades. 98% of students achieved 5 or more A*-C grades including English and Maths.
After the controversy over English marking and changes to science specifications last year there has been a lot of national press coverage about the GCSEs with Ofqual warning that students need to perform at a higher standard to achieve the same grades. This has been unsettling for our students, staff and parents and I am delighted for the boys that their hard work has paid off. I am also really pleased for the staff at the school who have worked tirelessly to support the boys in and out of lessons; they will be thrilled with the boys’ success.
Well done to all.
