Show me:
I have been riding BMX for four years now. I got into BMX as I live next to a small outdoor skatepark. When I started it was only meant to be fun, a way to pass the time, I never knew how seriously I would get involved in the sport until Rush Skatepark opened.
It has not been an easy road to get to where I am; multiple broken bones, hospital trips and getting turned down for sponsorships. However, I’ve been supported by Rush Skatepark since the start of May 2014. This entitles me to ride the park for free, wear their clothing when I ride in competitions and when I go to other venues. I also get to do demonstrations for them around Gloucestershire. One day I hope to get more sponsorship and ride in international competitions such as ‘Fise Montpellier’ and ‘Nass Festival’. So far I have won 1st place in the Rush Skatepark BMX amateur competition against people from all around the UK, was chosen to do a demo at Thomas Keble school sports fair, a demo inside Gloucester Cathedral in aid of Active Gloucestershire, and a demo at Pittville Park in aid of raising money for Women’s Cancer; we raised around £1500, and a demo at Rush itself for an open evening. It’s fast and furious but well worth the effort required.
I will keep you all up to date with my progress over the next year – keep watching!
