At the end of June, 44 Year 8 students visited Normandy on a joint French and History trip. They visited a variety of tourist sites including the Bayeux Tapestry, the American cemetery, a goat farm (to try the local goats cheese), Arromanches and Caen. One of the highlights was visiting the Maisy Battery where the boys had the opportunity to go into WW2 bunkers and see the guns that the Germans used during the Battle of Normandy. They also visited the market at Bayeux and the boys were each given 5 Euros to buy their own picnics. Prizes were then given to the best and most varied lunches. In the evenings they went bowling and also did a French treasure hunt.

They stayed at the beautiful Chateau du Baffy where the boys were able to play in the huge grounds, eat croissants each morning and also do a 'dégustation' of frogs legs and snails.
Places are still available for the trip next year for students going into Year 8. For more details, please email Mrs Bedford.
