The Chemistry Department would like to congratulate and say a big “Well done” to all the Year 12 chemists who took part and contributed in the Chemical Engineering project. Our presentation winners this year are Andrew Zandt-Valentine and Natasha Pontac, with the runners up being Edward Murphy, Jake Milton and Ben Geers. The winners received £10 WHSmiths vouchers and the runners up a Chemical Engineering stationary goodie bag. All participants received a small stationary gift donated by the Chemical Engineering Society IChemE.
The project required the pupils to conduct introductory research followed by their own practical investigative work to explore some of the important concepts of fluid flow and heat transfer. The work was carried out both within and outside lessons during the 4 week post exam period and concluded on Tuesday 8 July in the Lecture Theatre where groups gave their presentations in front of their peers and Stuart Johnson from Atkins Consultancy, currently working for EDF. Stuart included a careers guidance talk in his informative presentation and then helped to choose the winning team. His feedback was invaluable to each group in helping their studies move forward.
