In June 2014, the Geography department organised a trip to Iceland. On the first day we swam in the Blue Lagoon and stayed awake to see the midnight sun. We then went to see thirty metre waterfalls and walk on one of the largest glaciers in Iceland. We also spent time in Reykjavik and visited several volcanic craters. The geographical highlight was visiting the Rift Valley between the Eurasian and North American plates, it was fantastic to be able to see a real application of the theory which we had learned so thoroughly.
