I was very proud to be with the boys today when they opened their A level results. They have worked so hard over the last two years and contributed so much to the school; it was great to see them celebrating their success.
The results were record breaking and our best ever. 40% of exams were at the very highest A*-A grades, including 17% at A*; more than double the national figures. The pass rate was 99%. A large number of boys exceeded their predicted grades, with 30 students achieving three A grade passes or better, 19 students achieving at least 2 A* grades and 40 students achieving at least one A* grade. Most boys have gone on to secure places at their first choice universities including nine that are off to Oxbridge universities and several starting medicine courses.
This is a wonderful set of results and I am thrilled for our students. The boys had high aspirations from the start of their A level studies and set themselves some challenging targets; they worked hard for two years and really deserve their success. This was a tough year with changes to the examination process for A levels and I would like to thank our staff for their hard work and for supporting the boys so well. We are all very proud of our students and wish them well as they continue their studies or start their careers.
Later in the morning we also celebrated with our Year 12 boys receiving their AS results. They achieved some of the schools highest AS results ever, laying a solid foundation for their own A-level success. 51% of exams were at A-B grade and 70% at A-C grade. Well done to all of you and we look forward to your continuing success in Year 13.
