A few months ago my mum found out that an old school friend of hers had been diagnosed with terminal cancer. A group of friends got together and thought it would be a good idea to organise a sponsored walk to raised funds for some of the charities that have helped her. I asked if I could take part as well as I wanted to fundraise for the charities - the Cobalt Appeal in Cheltenham and St Richard's Hospice in Worcester.

On Sunday 28 December 2014 we met at Dursley Town Hall. From there we walked up to Stinchcombe Golf Course, over to North Nibley and up to the Tyndale Monument where we had a rest. We then followed the Cotswold Way near to Wotton-under-Edge and eventually ended up at the New Inn at Waterley Bottom where mum and her friends used to go to when they were sixth formers!

The walk was around 10 miles long and was very hilly and extremely muddy, it took us four hours in total. It was hard work and I ached the next day but it was worth it. It was great to see mum's friend at the end of the walk and she had brought mince pies and mulled wine to thank us all. We have raised a total of £5045.75 to be split between the two charities.
