On Wednesday 29 April 2015, Paralympian Mel Clarke held an archery workshop for Y7 and 9 students as part of the Sky Sports Living for Sport initiative. Mel is a hugely successful international archer. In 2008 Mel represented GB at the Paralympic Games, where she won a bronze medal, and equalled the Paralympic record in her discipline. At London 2012, Mel finished one better, adding a silver medal to her collection.  Mel now hopes to compete in Rio in 2016 and complete her trio of medals by winning Paralympic gold.

Students took part in a competition during their lesson with Mel, and at the end took part in a question and answer session. Mel told students to “dream, believe, work and achieve”, and that they should not be scared during their exams but embrace it, work hard and be the best they can be.
