On 25 November 2015, 6 Marling Y9-11 students took part in the annual Stroud Rotary Club competition. All the boys were set the same task which was to produce a healthy two course meal which was under £10.00 to make in a time limit of 90 minutes. The level of competition was really high and the judges remarked on how well all the boys performed on the day and how well each meal was presented. In Y9, Oliver Tomkins made a Caprese salad followed by a delicious quiche, Bryce Tidmarsh made a Thai green curry followed by banana fritters and Ben Williams made marinated sea bass on a bed of puy lentils followed by fruit crumble. In Y10, Isaac Hughes made a pork saltimbocca followed by a banana and passion fruit bread and butter pudding, Jacob Millar made a chicken and chorizo tagine followed by a lime cheesecake.

The winner was Y11 Spencer Hill who wowed the judges with the level of skills displayed and the top quality restaurant food that he produced. The winning menu was beef wellington with roast potatoes and seasonal vegetables, followed by a chocolate soufflé.

Well done to all the boys that participated and good luck to Spencer in January when he takes on the district finalists.
