Wednesday 9 October saw the first full meeting of the Sixth Form Medical Society. The society has been organised this year by Year 13 students intending to study medicine at university and who wanted an opportunity to share information and activities both with each other and Year 12 prospective medics.

“It was a great turnout!” claimed one of the Year 13 organisers. This was not surprising since the team had arranged for a full heart dissection coupled with a presentation of the regulation of heart rate.

Everyone got stuck into dissecting the hearts, with the Year 13 medics teaching the Year 12 students all about the structures and their functions. It was a very professionally organised, well researched and resourced, highly successful event and a great inauguration event for the Medical Society!
