Our first ever Warhammer team did the school proud at the semi final event in Nottingham on Thursday 28 April 2016. Warhammer World is an exciting and exceptional venue with giant sized warriors and fantastic displays showing just what could be created with Warhammer models. On our return we received the confirmation of the results and much praise from the organisers. Gemma Pearce the event coordinator wrote

“On a personal note I was so impressed with the sportsmanship, excellent behaviour and attitude of all the players today. It was a pleasure for all the staff here at Warhammer World to provide service to such a wonderful room of young people. Please pass on my thanks to your teams for making the day a pleasure for us to run.”

Thanks to mum Jane Hawley who coordinated the team. She said  “We achieved a very respectable 132 and 121 points. Great for our first attempt against a very strong field. Most of the finalists were Years 11-13. Well done Harry (Gloyn) for best painted figure! Everyone had a great time and we really learned a lot too. I think we have a good chance for next year!”

The students had many comments from their experience:

Lucas Holtmeyer-Cole “I had three games; on the first I got crushed, but I learnt from my experience to kill every model on the enemy team which I did in the succeeding games”

Finlay Hawley-Byrne “I really enjoyed the day out. All the staff and players were really nice and the exhibition was amazing. I am really excited to go next year”

Toby Jackson “ The exhibition was fantastic and showed lots of battle scenes of the 41st millennium in Warhammer 40000. The miniatures were extremely well painted and filled with detail.”

Harry Gloyn “I was a reserve for the team. However, I still played lots of games and had loads of fun. I also won the legends of painting competition.”

Frank Greenwood” Going to Warhammer world was more than interesting to someone of the hobby and was an experience that I would definitely do again”

Alex Gowler “The exhibition was breathtaking”

Charlie Trinder “ Despite being a reserve, I still very much enjoyed the day and watched many games which was really enjoyable.”

The team would like to thank Mr Alun Jones for driving, Mr Balster for coordinating with Ms Hawley and accompanying. Warhammer club meets after School on Wednesday evenings in Mr Elson’s room
