In June, 43 Year 8 students travelled to Normandy in France for a 4 day trip. We stayed in the Chateau de Baffy just outside Bayeux and our days were packed with activities. On the first day of travelling, we stopped off in the pretty town of Honfleur and then, when we got to the chateau and settled in, we had the chance to taste frogs legs and snails, as well as our normal dinner!

The next day, we visited the Maisy Battery and learned all about how the Nazis used the Battery during WW2 as well as the job of excavating the area in recent years. We then went on to a goat farm, petted the goats and tasted the different types of cheese. The obligatory trip to the French supermarket was next on the agenda. That night we did a 'pub quiz' and celebrated Leo's birthday with a lovely cake.

The next day, we visited the town of Bayeux, first going to the tapestry and then going into town. Everyone was given 5 Euros with which to buy lunch in the market and the boys were encouraged to 'club together' to get the best lunch they could. Prizes were awarded to the group with the best lunch. From there, we went to the Zoo de Jurques, an incredible zoo where we saw snow leopards, white legions, mountain goats and many more exotic animals.

That evening we went bowling and the following day, we went to the Arromanches 360 cinema before starting the long journey home.

As usual, it was a fantastic trip and we look forward to going again next year!
