A selection of Year 9 students took part in the Physics Olympiad at the University of Birmingham on Thursday 13  July. Twelve teams of students from a number of schools were given the opportunity to carry out experiments in the undergraduate teaching laboratory. The students had to present their evidence from the practical activity to a team of judges, explaining what the experiment was trying to do and how their data either confirmed accepted theories or challenged them. Three teams won prizes and Marling won Gold for the second year running. Congratulations to Jonathan Baccari and James Mathieson. The judges described the team as; “exceptional in the way they approached a difficult experiment and had to use apparatus totally unknown to them! So they fully deserve the gold.”
