On Wednesday 6 December the Year 10 and 11 Latin classes went to Bath for the day to see the Roman Baths. As we study Roman religion as part of our GCSE this was an excellent opportunity to see Roman remains.

The day started with an artefact handling session. It was interesting to see what had been found at the baths. There was everything from oyster shells to roof tiles. These things told us a lot about the people who used the baths 2000 years ago. We also looked at some inscriptions found around the baths and after translating them it was clear to see who the people were and it was fascinating to have that sort of connection.

Afterwards the boys had the chance to look around the museum at the Roman Baths freely and see even more artefacts and possessions found at the baths. This also gave them the chance to see how the baths worked as even the hot spring was uncovered.

We even had the opportunity to browse the Christmas market for an hour which gave us the chance to buy any last bits of Christmas shopping  for family and friends.
