A ‘Futures Day’ was organised by Marling School Sixth Form for students from Marling and Stroud High schools to meet with representatives from over 40 universities, the armed forces and local and national employers offering apprenticeship opportunities.

The Sixth Form Centre was turned into a Careers Fair where exhibitors from all over the country set out their stalls to tempt students to apply for places at their institutions.

Stephen Farr, Head of Marling School 6th form, was very pleased with the event.

Stephen, said: “The 6th Form Centre was buzzing with students chatting to exhibitors about what they have to offer. There are so many different career paths open to students and they were given a real flavour of the exciting opportunities that are out there.”

As well as the Careers Fair, students attended lectures and talks and were given pointers about how to present themselves, both in person and online, plus application and interview techniques that will make them stand out from other applicants.

Dr Stuart Wilson, Headteacher of Marling School, said: “It was great to see our students fully engaging with the exhibitors and exploring their options.

Although most of our students will go off to university, some will prefer a higher apprenticeship or may want to go straight into employment.  We are very lucky to have so many local high-calibre companies to help them with their choices.”
