A Team Match Report

On Saturday 9 November the Marling School Year seven A and B teams went to KLB for the Rednock rugby tournament. Everybody turned up well and on time for the A teams first match, which was against Thomas Keble. This was the first match our team had ever played together so we were all quite nervous. However we won 4 tries to 1.

Our next match was against Kingshill who we also beat 3-0. Our final pool match was against Rednock who were the hosts so we really wanted to win this and we did, 2-0. This meant we were through to the semi-finals against Deer Park. In this match we played really well as a team and won comfortably 4-0.

KLB were our opposition in the final match and once again we played really well and beat the home-side 3-0. This was a really good result from our first ever game together. Particular mentions go to Seb Kemp for his outstanding tap-tackle, Ben Wilkes for his contribution in the rucks and his amazing tackling and James Boyle for playing his role of fly-half superbly.

B Team Match Report

B Team;  Tiaan Litton (Captain), Billy Arthur, Lewis Barber, David Bendle, Jasper Dahdouh, Lewis Dillian, Danny Grant, George Hall, Cam Owen, Lucas Roberts Davis, Jamie Shaw and Jacob William.

The conditions were rain, sometimes heavy on an already boggy pitch.

KLB vs Marling School
David Bendle got Marling off to the perfect start by scoring a try within seconds of the opening match.  Plenty more tries followed leading Marling to a convincing win.

Archway vs Marling School
Archway put up a good fight but Marling were just brilliant with their defence. Jacob Williams showed his dancing feet to swerve round the Archway pack and run half the length of the pitch to score. Another good win by Marling.

Marling vs KLB
Marling were caught napping and KLB took advantage by scoring an early try, then held on valiantly. Marling fought back in the final minutes to finish on a draw.

Marling vs Archway
Jamie Shaw and Lucas Roberts Davis both shone in defence with some terrific tackling. The majority of the game was played in the Archways half with several opportunities going a miss. Jasper Dahdouh scored a late try to secure the game and the tournament.
