On Friday 10 January, the Secretary of State for Education Michael Gove visited Marling School to view the new developments the School has made and is in the process of making.

The visit began in the library and concluded in the science labs. Throughout the tour Mr Gove discussed with us the recent Ofsted report in which the School received an outstanding result, our upcoming role as Head Boy and Deputy Head Boy and what our plans were for the year ahead. He showed interest in our school lives as well as the School in general. He was friendly and engaging with the two of us, discussing our ambitions and plans for the future and every aspect of our school lives including our respective interests in sport and music.

Mr Gove, from our observations, seemed to enjoy his visit to Marling School. He was impressed by the recent developments and the manner in which the students conducted themselves, even those who were out expressing their political views and opinions in protest, he felt it showed that the education they were receiving was effective because the opinions they held were well structure and informed.
