Welcome to the Old Marlingtonians' section. These pages will keep you up to date with the activities of the Old Marlingtonians' Association, such as sporting fixtures, the Annual Dinner, keep you informed with our regular newsletters and tell you how you can continue to help the School by joining the Association.

The Old Marlingtonians' Association (OMA) was formed in 1925 by the former Head of Marling H.W. Carter (1919-1944) who was also the Association's President for its inaugural ten years.

One of the functions he wished the OMA to serve was "the providing for old boys and the School of opportunities for mutual service".

Through annual subscriptions and fund-raising raffles the OMA and individual old boys have contributed several items towards the School including:

  • the World War I and II memorial boards in the School Hall
  • the lectern and oak chair in the Hall
  • the clock tower on the cricket pavilion
  • the portrait of H.W. Carter to celebrate its Jubilee in 1975.

More recent contributions include:

  • donating over £20,000 towards Marling achieving Specialist Engineering Status in 2007
the School flag which flies by the main gates (funded by a re-union of the 1950 intake in 2000)
  • re-painting the railings along Cainscross Road
  • funding the re-mounting of the stone balls on the pillars which punctuate the railings
  • purchasing a new set of kit for the 1st XV Rugby team which reached the semi finals of the Daily Mail Vase competition in 2008
  • paying over £7,000 to refurbish the cricket pavilion in 2010-11
  • paying for photos to be framed and protected in the School archives
  • funding materials for a portrait of Marling's inaugural Head Master, W.J. Greenstreet (1891-1910) to coincide with Marling's 125th anniversary in 2012.
  • The restoration of the Sir Samuel Stephens Marling portrait, also for the 125th anniversary in 2012.
